"For me it’s about getting my students out there into the real world pursuing their dreams, carving out the confidence and the voice they need to take them on their own personal journey; my life as a professional artist has given me the knowledge and experience I need to get them there.." - Maggi

Who is Maggi Ballantyne?

I am a professional singer and vocal expert with over 40 years of live worldwide performance experience at a 6-star level - my voice has taken me on a wonderful journey that never seems to end and long may it continue.

My passion for singing and entertaining started from a very young age where I first joined a singing and dancing school age 9.  By the age of 14 I was playing guitar and singing in folk clubs,  by 16 years of age I was singing professionally and embarking on a lifelong passion in the music business gaining my invaluable experience working with a multitude of bands accross Europe and around the world.  Throughout, I have worked hard to stay grounded and keep my natural personality - this has seen me successfully through a lifetime career of live performance.

For the larger part of my life my singing has put me on stages all across the world; I have sung with every kind of band to different audiences through every kind of emotion and in all sorts of venues - my passion for singing and entertaining the public and powerful vocals meant I could cater for all music types and tastes; I mastered every style of singing. I sang ballads, rock, cabaret, dance music, concert performance singing, music theatre and light opera.

My goal as a singer was to be the best I could possibly be, this was the only way I could stand out amongst other singers along with my unique approach to performance - I worked relentlessly to master the art of audience management and control aiming for immediate attention within moments of walking onto a stage.

I never thought that day would come where I stopped entertaining and singing, but in my early 40's I met and married the most wonderful man, which took away the shine of the travelling.  Now, for me it’s about getting my students out there into the real world pursuing their dreams, carving out the confidence and the voice they need to take them on their own personal journeys;  my life as a professional artist has given me the knowledge and the experience I need to get them there.  For some, this is into the professional world of singing and getting them on to their own platforms, for others it sets them on a path to a more confident life giving them a voice they can enjoy into and through their adult lives.

How do I do that?

That is where my heart and soul is coupled with a life time of experience and knowledge not only as a Vocal and Performance Coach but as a Teacher with an instinct and a sense of ‘knowing’ how to get the best out of my students.  Couple that with 20 years of coaching experience and research on everything there is to know about how the voice works and all the methods of improving every aspect of singing.

I’m in the business of singing and it’s given me a career that I’ve loved and will always continue to love, this genuine love of the craft connects instantly with people who want to learn.

How many times can a person be blessed, I ask myself this almost every day...  I have the best job in the world with music in my life each and every day.

"As a general rule, long on the vowels short on the consonants. Open the vowel before you start to sing."
